david martínez suárez

(La Hueria, Asturias, 1984) Fine Arts graduates from the University of the Basque Country, where he also did a Masters. He has received several scholarships and awards and was given a grant to work with the Bilbaoarte foundation during 2008. That same year he received a grant from the Kunsthaus Bregenz for a residence in Austria for two months. Together with the artists Lorea Alfaro, Manu Uranga and Jon Otamendi he obtained a publicity grant from the Basque Government for the project called MLDJ, carried out during the period 2010-2011.

His most recent one-man shows include: No better, no worse, no change, no pain. Gema Llamazares Gallery, Gijón; Si la montaña no va… Think space, La Felguera, Asturias; Diagonal Torre de Ariz, Basauri, in 2014. Inercia Laboral Centro de Arte, Gijón in 2013. Defensa in the Valey Cultural Centre, Piedras Blancas, Asturias in 2012. Respira hondo in the María Forcada Foundation, in Tudela, Navarra in 2011.

He has done several one-man shows in the number of different exhibition centres and museums, such as: Hiperobjetos Official Architects College of Madrid; Tiempo de progreso Barjola Museum, Gijón in 2014. “Izena Gero” Museo Guggenheim, Bilbao in 2013. Entornos próximos Artium Museum, in 2008.

His video work has featured in several audiovisual shows such as: La Noche en Blanco, Avilés in 2012. Open MEM, L´Mono, in Bilbao in 2009, the showing of the documentary Nalón on the Day of Architecture, Flemish Architecture Institute (VAi) through FLACC, Genk, Belgium in 2007.
